Well known celebrity chef and TV personality, Poh Ling Yeow, has accepted the role of ambassador of the 2013 Merbein Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph on Saturday, August 17th.

The vanilla slice baking competition, which also incorporates the dried vine grape bake-off will be held in the heart of Merbein.

Following her success on the 2009 Masterchef television series, Poh went on to host her own ABC television series, 'Poh's Kitchen' and write a very successful cook book, 'Poh's Kitchen - My Cooking Adventures'.

Poh will be presenting two cooking demonstrations on the day.

Merbein is on the Calder Highway, 12 kms west of Mildura.  It is the most northern town in Victoria and is literally, 'Top of the State'.

To celebrate this area's produce, a section for cooking with dried vine fruit was added to the event in 2012.  Merbein has, traditionally, been a stronghold of the Dried Vine Fruits Industry. 
Over 90% of Australia's dried vine fruits are grown in the local wider area known as Sunraysia.
