Planning is underway for the staging of the 2016 Merbein Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph, incorporating the National Dried Vine Fruit Bake-off. The 2016 event will be held in Merbein CBD on Saturday 20th August.
We are excited that Darren Purchese, the 2016 Event's Ambassador and best-known as the cooking presenter on Master Chef, will be demonstrating his cooking skills on the day.
As its centrepiece, the 2016 Event will have the traditional Vanilla Slice Competition, sponsored and judged by the Baking Industry and to add a local flavour; the dried grape baking section will again be part of the baking competition.
The event attracts many thousands of visitors and interest in the 2016 year’s event is already amazing.
Sponsorship now is being sought by the organising committee to assist in making the 2016 Event the best ever.
We would welcome your support of one of the region's biggest events which is rapidly developing into a nationally recognised culinary experience.
Past Exposure of the event includes:
In 2015 this event featured in ABC Television's show Back Roads as 2013 Professional Vanilla Slice Winner, Kevin Sharp's competition journey was documented.
In 2015, Channel 7's morning show Sunrise interviewed 2015 Professional Vanilla Slice Winners Colin and Alicia from the Golden Nugget Bakery and featured a segment on their win.
In 2015 Win TV Ballarat and Win TV Shepparton covered the winning bakeries and visited their premises.
And this is further evidenced:

- by appearing in Country Style 2014 February Magazine as one of the 'great 25 people, places and things that represent the essence of country
